You’ve just created your Satisfactory dedicated server with MineStrator, nice. Some options can be changed from the in-game server UI, but the real “behind-the-scenes” tweaks live in the MineBoard Settings tab.
In this guide, you’ll learn what each MineBoard setting does, which ones are safe to tweak, and which ones can turn your server startup into a loading-screen simulator.

MineBoard settings for Satisfactory servers
The MineBoard Settings tab lets you edit server parameters that aren’t exposed in-game. Most values are simple (number or 0 | 1), but a few are marked Advanced, Repair, or Experimental for a reason.
If you’re unsure, change one setting at a time, then restart the server and test. That way, if something breaks, you’ll know exactly what caused it.
💡 Tip: Before tweaking anything, download a backup or keep a copy of your current values. It’s the fastest “undo” button.
Increase the maximum number of players
[Experimental] Maximum Number of Players controls how many players can join your server. The value type is number, and while you can technically go up to 127, the game isn’t optimized for that.
In 2026, Satisfactory multiplayer is much better than it used to be, but pushing past 4 players can still increase CPU load, network traffic, and save times depending on your factory size.
🚨 Important: Coffee Stain warns that client and server are not fully optimized beyond 4 players. Increase this value at your own risk.
Configure rotating auto-saves
Number of Rotating Auto-Saves defines how many automatic save files the server keeps. The value type is number.
When the limit is reached, the oldest autosave is deleted and the newer ones shift down the list. A higher value gives you more rollback options, but it also uses more disk space.
💬 Good to know: If your world is large, autosaves can become heavy. Keep enough slots for safety, but don’t hoard 200 saves “just in case”.
Switch game branch safely
[Advanced] Branch Name lets you select which branch the server should run: public or experimental. This is mainly used to test upcoming updates before they hit the stable branch.
If your server is already installed, switching branch requires two other options to be enabled. Otherwise, the server can’t download the right build.
Enable Automatic Updates
Enable Validate Server Files
Set Branch Name to
experimentalRestart the server
📝 Note: The experimental branch is great for testing, but it can introduce bugs or mod incompatibilities. Avoid it on a “main” community server.
Enable (or disable) automatic updates
Automatic Updates decides whether your server checks for updates on startup. The value type is 0 | 1.
When set to 1, the server will update itself automatically if a newer version is available. That’s convenient, but it can also surprise you with a version change right before your friends log in.
💡 Tip: Running events? Set updates to
0temporarily, then update after the session to avoid last-minute downtime.
Tune client connection timeouts
Two settings control how long the server waits before dropping a connection. Both are number values, expressed in seconds, and most servers can keep the defaults.
[Advanced] Initial Client Connection Timeout: time allowed for a new connection to establish.
[Advanced] Established Client Connection Timeout: time before an existing connection is considered expired.
The established timeout defaults to 20 seconds. You usually don’t need to increase it unless your players have unstable connections or frequent high latency spikes.
⚠️ Warning: Setting timeouts too high can make “ghost connections” linger longer and delay clean disconnects after crashes.
Validate server files (repair mode)
[Repair] Validate Server Files checks the integrity of your server files when set to 1, but only when Automatic Updates is enabled. The value type is 0 | 1.
This is useful if you suspect corrupted files, broken updates, or weird startup errors. On a healthy server, leaving it off is usually the best move.
⚠️ Warning: Enabling validation can greatly increase server startup time. Don’t keep it enabled permanently if everything runs fine.
Set the reliable port correctly
Reliable Port is an additional port used for server connections. The value type is number.
This is not a “pick any number you like” setting. It only works if you have the dedicated IP option, and you must choose one of the additional dedicated ports assigned to your MyBox.
🚨 Important: Use only a port listed in the Access tab of your server panel. Those extra ports are allocated to your MyBox and distributed across your pods (servers).
Questions frequent
Which MineBoard settings are safe to change first?
Start with Number of Rotating Auto-Saves and Automatic Updates. They’re easy to understand and low-risk. Leave Experimental and Repair options alone unless you have a clear reason.
Should I enable “Validate Server Files” all the time?
No. Use it as a troubleshooting tool when you suspect corrupted files or broken updates. Keeping it enabled can make every startup much slower, with no benefit on a stable server.
Why does my server fail after changing the reliable port?
Most of the time, it’s because the port isn’t one of your allocated dedicated ports. Check the Access tab in your panel and pick a port from the list, not a random value.
Conclusion
You now know what every MineBoard Settings option does on a Satisfactory dedicated server, from autosaves to branch switching and network timeouts. Tweak carefully, test after each change, and you’ll keep your factory running smoothly.
